Why are Tennis Habitat 500 events so different?

The Tennis Habitat 500 series stands apart from typical tournaments because they truly are “tennis events”. The team at Tennis Habitat envisioned more for amateur players who love to play and support the sport – people like you and me! Why shouldn’t an event provide a social atmosphere for players and spectators alike? We were tired of playing matches and immediately leaving because there was no reason to stay. We wanted to create events that function more like a weekend destination and less like a 2 hour “thing to do”. That’s why Tennis Habitat 500’s offer so much. From complimentary food and drinks to music, entertainment and daily contests; we aim to have something for everyone.

Perhaps the biggest reason Tennis Habitat 500 events are so different is the prizes we award to players. Our founder asked the million..uh…500 dollar question to us one evening. “What if we broke away from the traditional mouse pad or plastic trophy first prize and actually awarded cash to players of EVERY level? Would the world end? Riots in the streets? Religious hysteria?” Not so much. We felt it was time to give a professional feel to players who grind it out every week. The more exciting the prize, the more competitive the match. Seems simple enough.

Now we’re not saying a T-shirt and a plastic trophy isn’t a great first prize..well..yes we are. We will stick to awarding cash prizes to all levels of amateurs. The plastic trophies we will leave to the other guys.
